Caister Lifeboat's Beer Festival is stocking up on cider… the popular drink started to run out after the first night at last year's event.

With just a month to go, the crew have organised the live musicians for each session and are in the final stages getting the beer and cider stocks supplied.

Andy Garnett, who organises the event, said they're ordering more cider, because it's increasing in popularity.

'The beer festival attracting more people, so it's little wonder we sold out of beer again,' he added.

'But last year we sold cider so quickly we ran out, and we had to ask local publicans to help us replenish our stocks.

'We'd have run out completely had it not been for people like Jonathan Childs at the Grange Freehouse in Ormesby, who gave us three extra barrels.'

A new batch of commemorative pint glasses, costing £2.50, has been stocked. Each displays the Caister Lifeboat's lifebelt logo in the colours of the lifeboat, orange, white, blue, black and an etched glass effect.

Bands booked for this year's festival include Ormesby-based The Moondogs on Friday's evening session from 6pm, and then Annie's Jazz Friends continues the music on the Saturday lunchtime.

Headlining the Saturday night's entertainment is another local band, The Mighty Aardvarks and on Sunday there is a Father's Day family day planned, with accoustic duo Harvest, featuring Jon Buck and Richard Taylor.

John Groom, the butcher from Bungay, is serving his hog roast on the Sunday lunchtime, while Thompsons' Fish and Chip shop on Tan Lane operates a phone-and-deliver service on Friday and Saturday nights.

Mr Garnett added: 'We've got everything you could want. Great beers and ciders from local brewers and cidermakers, fantastic food and music to suit all tastes.

'Last year we raised more than £4,000 - and we're hoping to beat that this year.'
