The masses descended on Thetford Forest last night to watch The Script, with support from Tom Walker, as part of the Forestry Commission's Forest Live concert series.

As the first of four shows kicked off, Glasgow born and Manchester raised singer-songwriter Tom Walker began promptly, opening up the evening ahead of the main act.

His supporting set proved how well his music translates from the small walls of Norwich Arts Centre to the much larger stage of Thetford Forest.

At 9pm sharp, The Script arrived on stage.

They opened with Superheroes – a track from their fourth album No Sound Without Silence. This fed perfectly into Rock the World, which instantly had the audience clapping their hands, jumping in time to the music and dancing along.

No Man is an Island was a definite high point in the set as the band spilt the audience and got everyone involved in some classic crowd participation which saw the two halves of the arena battling to sing the loudest. Despite being well into the set list The Script's energy levels never faltered, continuing to prove just why they have won so many music awards throughout their career.

It was great to see them still throwing in some classics such as Man Who Can't Be Moved and Hall Of Fame – two of which were played in their three-song encore.

The audience were even lucky enough to have Danny O'Donoghue leave the stage and make his way into the crowd during The Energy Never Dies - a seemingly perfect title to describe the night as a whole.

'For the first night you guys smashed it out the ballpark' exclaimed Danny as their set drew to a close, making comment on how he was glad he didn't have to follow on from the first night as it would be hard to top the crowd reaction that they received.

Even if you had gone to the show having not previously been a fan of The Script you'd have had a great night nonetheless with a performance that was top class both musically and in terms of performance – something that pays testament to their years of experience as a band.
