It is a best-selling children’s book and it has been brought lovingly to life at the Norwich Playhouse.

The Gruffalo’s Child, the follow up to Julia Donaldson’s The Gruffalo, tells how the Gruffalo’s Child ventures into the deep, dark wood despite her father’s warning not too.

The animal-packed encounters are told through a group of actors who use the power of three to make it a perfect 10 for the child-filled audience.

Althea Burey as the Gruffalo’s Child has an infectious enthusiasm which shines through, while Georgia Wall also puts in an accomplished performance as Mouse but by a whisker it’s Jack Kelly who steals the show.

His madcap portrayals as the waistcoat-wearing snake, the librarian-like owl, wide-boy fox and of course the Gruffalo, are a treat for young and old. It is a beautifully made production which although small in scale is big in heart.

It runs until October 21. For tickets call 01603 598598.
