The Sunrise Concert Orchestra will be performing one of its very popular concerts at All Saints’ and St Margaret’s Church in Pakefield this month.
The concert, on Saturday, November 17 at 7.30pm, will have an entertaining and varied programme, opening with Mozart’s overture to ‘Don Giovanni’, followed by Haydn’s ‘Oxford’ Symphony.
After the interval the concert takes on a lighter note with works by Beethoven, Schubert, Elgar, Moszkowski, Fletcher and Jessel.
The orchestra was established in Lowestoft in 1942, named The Millard–Tolhurst Orchestra after its founding members.
It was later renamed The Lowestoft Orchestral Society and then in 2014 The Sunrise Concert Orchestra. It is pleased to have three members of the original orchestra still playing today, performing regularly in the Waveney area.
The Sunrise Concert Orchestra leader is Joe Capp and the conductor is Philip Harrold. Tickets to the concert cost £7 and are available on the door.
