Put your steins in the air and get your lederhosen out the wardrobe as Real Oktoberfest returns to Norwich for 2018.

The popular beer festival is making a triumphant return to OPEN Norwich from Friday October 12 to 13 and will be transformed into a German-themed Bierkeller.

Expect authentic Bavarian beer, food and entertainment as 3,000 visitors are expected to attend the event which sold out last year.

To keep festival-goers in good spirits there will also be entertainment provided by The Bavarian Strollers, the UK’s best Umpah band, alongside Norfolk party favourite Nightrain which is bound to get everyone on their feet.

All the profits will also go towards helping disadvantaged young people in the community - so there’s never been a better excuse to drink beer.

John Gordon-Saker, Chief Executive of OPEN, said “We are really pleased to be running this event again.

“We engage with around 4,500 young people each year through our drop-in hub on Castle Meadow and outreach programme across rural Norfolk and every penny of profit from events goes towards giving them the confidence and life-skills to make their own way in life.

“Some of the most disadvantaged suffer from abuse, self-harm, low self-esteem, bullying and mental health issues, so for those of you attending Oktoberfest I am very grateful to you for supporting Norfolk’s young people with free classes and training sessions in boxing, mixed martial arts, climbing, dance, musical theatre, photography, kitchen and hospitality skills.”

There will be two evening sessions at 6pm to 11pm and on Saturday an afternoon session from 12pm to 4pm.

Standard tickets cost £10 plus booking fee and are almost sold out for the Saturday evening but a limited number of two for one tickets are available to EDP and Norwich Evening News readers until mid-August for the Friday evening and Saturday afternoon sessions.

The ticket price includes a specially branded limited-edition Oktoberfest Norwich Bavarian Beer Stein and there are also a limited number of VIP tickets available with reserved seating, stein, complimentary food and first drink and personal table service.

Bavarian brewer Bitburger will once more be the official beer partner and last year’s favourite, Benedicktner Hell, will be available again alongside other choices and a range of authentic food options.

Vouchers for the event, sponsored by Adnams and Leathes Prior, can be purchased and exchanged for beer, soft drinks and food.

Stein vouchers (2 pints) cost £8 and a Bratwurst or vegetarian option cost £5 each.

You can purchase tickets online and for enquiries email info@opennorwich or call the OPEN Box Office on 01603 763111.
