Richard Hughes has launched a search for the county's best home cook and wants to celebrate the amateur chefs who excel at creating fabulous meals for family and friends every single day.
Are you the unsung hero or heroine of your own kitchen? Are your culinary skills always being praised by those you cook for? If you're a great home cook, the EAT Food and Drink Awards would love you to put yourself forward for the Norfolk Home Chef of the Year competition!
The EAT Food and Drink Awards in association with the East of England Co Op celebrates the very best in food and drink in Norfolk and is spearheaded by EDP Norfolk Magazine.
A new category, sponsored by The Richard Hughes Cookery School, seeks to find the county's most impressive home cooks.
'I'm not looking for masterchefs or for people who are using cutting edge techniques, what I really want is to find someone who is a truly great cook and who produces the kind of food that everyone wants to eat,' said Mr Hughes, who is chef director of The Assembly House in Norwich and runs the cookery school.
'We all know that your own family are often the harshest critics of all and the hardest to feed, so if you can impress them on a daily basis, you can bet that you'll be able to impress us! It might be that you're famous for your pies or you're a legendary cake maker, or that you have a family recipe that never fails to delight. Let us know!'
The category is open to amateur cooks of any age who live in Norfolk – all you need to do to enter is send in the recipes for your favourite main course and dessert and explain why you chose your menu, what it means to you and who you usually cook it for.
The best menus will then be chosen and the shortlisted chefs will be invited in to The Richard Hughes Cookery School for a cook-off where they will prepare their dishes for judging. Entries are open until midnight on July 8 - so you've got time to perfect your recipes/persuade the brilliant cook in your life to enter!
