From one of the region's biggest air shows to community picnics and history displays, there are plenty of things being planned around South Norfolk to mark Norfolk Day.

The Saturday, July 27 celebrations of all things Nelson's County is set to make an even bigger splash in 2019 than the first-ever Norfolk Day event did last year.

Here's a look at what's on:

Caistor St Edmund

Volunteers will be giving free tours of Caistor Roman Town in Caistor St Edmund on Sunday July 28. The tour leaves from the car park at 2.30pm.

Hempnall

To mark Norfolk Day, members of Hempnall WI will be opening two gardens and inviting members of the public in for tea and cake. Willow House garden in Bungay Road will be open from 10am-12pm while Stone Cottage garden in Fairstead Lane will be open from 2pm- 4pm. There will be special Norfolk recipes for cakes. If you didn't get to try 'Yarmouth Straws' last year, make sure you sample them this year! They were very popular. No need to book, just turn up. All proceeds go to Norfolk Admiral Nurses.

Saxlingham Nethergate

To celebrate Norfolk Day the group will be ringing the bells of St Mary the Virgin church in Saxlingham Nethergate, at 11am on July 27.

Tibenham

Norfolk Day Café on Saturday, July 27 from 11am at Tibenham Community Hall. Lunch, cakes and biscuits will be based on traditional Norfolk recipes. Tibenham History Group will have a display of materials about the village and its past. There is no entry charge.

Diss

Diss WI will be having a cake stall and tombola at Causeway Bowls Club Community Day on Norfolk Day, July 27, in aid of EACH. Chapel Street 10-4pm. There will also be arts and craft fair, plants and have a go at target bowls.

Old Buckenham

Eyes to the skies as one of the region's most popular air shows, the Old Buckenham Airshow on July 27-28, coincides with Norfolk Day and features debut appearances from rare vintage aircraft and performances from famous Second World War aircraft, and taking to skies for their 100th display will be the Wildcat Aerobatics team. Lots of fun on ground too.

New Buckenham

New Buckenham Village Hall on Saturday, July 27, is the location for the village show which coincides with Norfolk Day. Public viewing of entries in classes which range from cooking to flower arranging, crafts to fruit and vegetables, photography to plants and flowers starts at 2pm with prize giving taking place at 3pm, Refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle and tombola. For the youngsters, Mandy`s Gingerbread Puppet Show takes place at 2.30pm and entry is free.

Attleborough

From 2pm on July 27, The Cock Public House in Attleborough will be celebrating Norfolk Day in style. There will be carnival games as well as face painting, animal selfies and live music from "Driftwood" a rock covers band from Norfolk.

To mark Norfolk Day on July 27, Attleborough WI will be hosting a coffee morning in Attleborough town hall. The day will also feature a raffle, photo quiz and more. This year they will be wearing yellow sashes plus straw hats with yellow ribbons and yellow flowers. They are aiming for 100 plus slices of cake and small cakes which will be free with coffee or tea.

Wymondham

To celebrate Norfolk Day and the Norfolk Federation's centenary, the Wymondham and Bridewell WI group will be handing out cakes and Morsbags in the town centre.

North Lopham

Keep the fun going as Lopham's Vintage Rally takes place the day after Norfolk Day on Sunday, July 28, at the Lophams Village Hall and Playing Fields from 10am-5pm. Vintage tractors, steam engines, classic cars, a dog show, valley sheepdogs, falconry displays, motorcycles, military and more. Entry adults £5, children £2, under-5s free.

Garboldisham

On July 27, the community run pub will be open from midday for real ales, performances from Kenninghall Morris dancers, Dad's Army Museum Thetford Platoon and street food stalls.

Thetford

On Sunday July 28, there will be a Norfolk Day 10K setting off from Guildhall, Market Place, Thetford. There will be Norfolk Day 10K medals with the county flag available for entrants. Runners must be 14 or over to take part, entrance costs £18.

Thetford and District Motorcycle Club will be setting off on Saturday July 27 on a round Norfolk ride that will se them embark on a 236 mile north, east, west and south (NEWS) tour of the county in aid of the charity Onward Enterprise.

Local Libraries

Lots of Norfolk Day activities and events at the libraries across South Norfolk. Hethersett will have a Local History Talk by the Friends Group with materials used to form a display for Norfolk Day (taking place on July 29). Attleborough hosts a Just a Cuppa with a Norfolk authors' display. And there is Just a Cuppa for local reminiscences at both Long Stratton and Harleston. Diss has a local book sale. Thetford Library hosts a local history and photographic display.
