John Godber and Jane Thornton would have been delighted by the treatment afforded their perceptive and highly amusing view of life in a trendy cocktail bar.

Director Matt Markham ensured all the raunchy wit and humour of the piece could be enjoyed at its best.

The success of the show also marked a personal triumph for Matt, who was making a return to theatrical work two years after a near-fatal accident.

Four highly talented actresses – Nina Jacques, Annabel Capper, Lisa Brooke and Kate Allerston – successfully created the host of characters who make the play such lively entertainment.

Their greatest attribute was their ability to switch seamlessly from check-out girl to likely lad, from partygoer to yuppie. That was certainly the recipe for the success of the performance which was true to John Godber's characteristic fast-moving, multi-role style.

The demands placed on the cast are considerable, but the accomplished quartet were more than able to meet the challenge. The result was great fun.

The performance space at West Acre was perfect for this production with its simple, but effective, set which enhanced four slick, highly professional, performances.
