With tens of thousands of festival-goers passing through the gates to Henham Park it was a glut of top names in comedy, music and the arts.

Now in its 12th year and boasting a line up to compete with many of the rising stars on the festival scene, Latitude is stamping its mark on the circuit and attracting bands and comedians at the top of their game.

Few disappointments hit revellers over the course of the weekend, with smooth traffic flows and easy access. One minor drawback was the famous lake swimming off limits, due, we were told, to algae in the water.

Not enough to detract from the festival as a whole, highlights included a barnstorming set from The 1975 as a Friday headliner, an exceptional, intimate Willy Mason set in the woods, with Katherine Jenkins crossing the lake on a gondola to open a captivating performance by the water side.

Other headliners included Mumford and Sons, Fatboy Slim,

James Skelly, frontman of The Coral, said it was a 'brilliant' festival and 'the best one we have done so far'. 'It is definitely one of my favourites,' he said.

Blaine Harrison of the Mystery Jets said the band loved the energy at Latitude. 'Often when you play quite early at a festival you have to get the crowd going,' he said. 'At Latitude there is a wonderful vibrancy to the festival and we didn't have to work hard at all.'

He added he had come to Henham Park as 'a punter' before and watched Latitude grow from a its infancy into 'something special'.

The police operation changed slightly this year with an armed presence following recent events in manchester and London but the operation was a success, said Det Supt Dave Cutler of Suffolk Police.

'Numbers change from day to day because of ticket numbers but it has been steady through the weekend. I think we were over 34,000 people on Saturday but it fluctuates.

'We have seen minor issues of the kind you would expect to face but nothing significant at all.

'It has been a good atmosphere and people have generally been really well behaved and enjoying themselves.'
