Norwich will be treated to more than two months of music and live entertainment this summer, in a bid to enliven evenings in the city.
Launched on Thursday, July 5, the Head Out, Not Home summer events programme - organised by Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with NORCA - will last for 10 weeks.
Each Thursday evening (weather permitting), across five different city centre locations between 4.40pm and 8pm there will be events that entire families can enjoy.
Visitors to the city can expect to see vibrant music and street entertainment on Gentleman’s Walk, London Street, St Gregory’s Green, Westlegate/Ber Street, and new for 2018, Norwich Arts Centre Front Lawn .
Covent Garden street performance Holy Kapow will kick start proceedings at 4.40pm on London Street.
They will be joined at locations around the city with live music from Ebb Tide, Granny’s Attic, The Brass Monkeys and TWA Flex Diamond will present Libby Watson, Perry Cooke and Vision.
Stefan Gurney, executive director of Norwich BID said: “The Head Out, Not Home extravaganza is now in its sixth year and during that time has established itself as a major cultural entertainment festival in the city centre’s calendar and has a keen following!
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the vast array of vibrant musicians and street performers to Norwich this summer.
“Thursday evenings for the next 10 weeks are not to be missed, there will be so much to see and do, remember to Head Out, Not Home and have some fun.”
Norwich BID was set up in 2012 to support businesses, improve the experience of visitors to the city and promote Norwich to a wider audience through national campaigns and projects.
Among its successes, the BID can count the festive Tunnel of Light, investing £400,000 in Christmas lights, the City Hosts scheme, the VisitNorwich App, and the increased footfall in the city centre.
The weekly entertainment schedules are available via the VisitNorwich app, the Norwich BID website http://norwichbid.co.uk/the-norwich-experience/early-evening-events/event-schedule/ or visit the Norwich Evenings Facebook page or follow @NorwichBIDUK on Twitter.
