An art exhibition in memory of a Norfolk artist has raised more than £1,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
Rachel Hutchins, a former Broadland High School pupil who studied at Winchester School of Art and Royal College of Art, died in 2015 from lung cancer aged 30. Her parents Sue and Chris Hutchins put on the exhibition at Blickling Hall to showcase their daughter’s work.
Mr Hutchins said: “Rachel’s art career was just beginning to take off and she had a good career ahead when she fell ill. We decided to put on the exhibition to show people the vast range and quality of Rachel’s work.”
Mr and Mrs Hutchins donated the proceeds to EACH’s the nook appeal which aims to raise £10m to build a new hospice.
Mrs Hutchins said: “Rachel was deeply moved by the young children she saw undergoing cancer treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. We thought Rachel would fully approve of our choice to donate money to this worthy cause.”
