A city choir will be performing special songs in two historic buildings to celebrate Norfolk Day and a landmark anniversary.
Norwich Community Choir, which formed a decade ago in 2008, will sing songs reflecting on how the group has changed at Norwich Cathedral on Friday, July 27 and the Assembly House on Theatre Street Norwich, on Sunday, July 29.
The group was set up by piano teacher Meg Turpin, from Portersfield Road in Norwich.
She said: 'In 2008 I put a few adverts out about the choir thinking I would have a few people turn up. But on the first evening I had 60 people. It grew from there.'
There are now 120 people in the choir which now practises on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in Norwich and Sprowston.
'There are all kinds of people in the choir. They come from all walks of life and come for different reasons,' said Ms Turpin.
She added: 'A great many people join for their mental health and have suffered from depression or have gone through a bereavement.
'Part of what the choir is for is creating a safe and friendly group. People create precious bonds, which is special.'
Choir members do not have to audition or be able to read music.
The July 27 concert is free and takes place at 6.30-7pm as part of the Norwich Cathedral Norfolk Day performances.
That event takes place from 10.30am-9pm and features other musicians and choirs, poetry readings and arts and crafts.
Norwich Community Choir's July 29 concert, called Journeys, is in aid of child bereavement charity Nelson's Journey and happening from 2-4.30pm.
It will feature storyteller Paul Jackson and songs representing how the choir has developed.
The July 27 concert will also feature these songs which include African/American spiritual pieces.
Ms Turpin said: 'I love seeing the way that people have come together in the choir to support each other and blossom.'

Norfolk Day online shop
An online shop has been launched selling Norfolk Day marketing material which event organisers can display on the day.
The shop is selling a four-pack of flags, four-pack of A3 posters and 20 balloons at £4, while 5m of bunting is £8.
Celebration packs containing all of the above are available for £18.
Norfolk Day takes place on Friday, July 27, and is intended as a day of fun in which individuals, community groups and businesses are encouraged to get involved by hosting or participating in events.
The initiative was launched by the EDP and Norwich Evening News in partnership with BBC Radio Norfolk and has the backing of business and community organisations who are planning events for the day.
