Two years ago we published a list of the best places in Norfolk to get fish and chips. Here’s a look at the chippies our readers decided were top this year.
•The Grosvenor Fish Bar, 28 Lower Goat Lane, Norwich
Appearing on 2016’s list, and ever popular - you can’t really go wrong with The Grosvenor Fish Bar. Being in central Norwich it’s not exactly close to the sea, but as far as the fish and chip experience goes it’s undeniably one of the best all year round.
•Buxton Fish & Chip Shop, Crown Road, Norwich
A newcomer to the list, Buxton Fish & Chip Shop was widely suggested and has excellent online reviews. Open Tuesday through to Saturday, with all the usual chip shop flare, plus “wet fish”.
•The Trawler, 50 High Street, Sheringham
Another new suggestion, The Trawler even offers gluten free fish and chips, making it a great option for those with dietary restrictions.
•The Chip Inn, Norwich Road, Long Stratton
Breaking into this year’s list the family owned Chip Inn makes offering the best sustainable produce at the best price its mission.
•No1, 1 New Street, Cromer
No1 made our last list, and it comes highly recommended again this year. This Cromer fish and chip shop is owned by Michelin starred chef Galton Blackiston and its popularity certainly seems to confirm its quality.
•Lim’s Fish & Chips, 11 Bridge Street, Loddon
Newly recommended, patrons praised this shop’s consistent quality. Make sure you take a walk by the river Chet while you’re there.
•The Rembrandt, 65 Dereham Road, Easton
The Rembrandt takeaway and restaurant made our last list and thanks to its large menu and continuing popularity, was suggested many times this time around as well.
•Mary Jane’s Fish Bar, Garden Street, Cromer
Another new contender and another great option for those looking for a gluten free meal. The food here is said to be freshly cooked by friendly staff.
•Holt Fish Bar, 11 Shirehall Plain, Holt
Finishing off with an old favourite, it seems that Holt Fish Bar can’t be knocked. Patrons enjoy both the quality of the food and the service.
