Ute Lemper: Last Tango in Berlin

The Apex

Bury St Edmunds

Ute Lemper's sensual singing voice has a terrific range of tones and volume. And in her Bury Festival appearance she mainly concentrated upon the work of Marlene Dietrich, who has influenced her greatly. As Ute explained, the evening was to be a musical journey through the last century.

In-demand Ute performs around the world, including Paris, London and New York just for starters. She had so much to tell and share and you can visualise so much more when she sings. Her rendition of Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind was phenomenal.

The audience seemed transfixed by her. When she spoke it was often in a very soft voice so you needed to concentrate.

The show ended with a simple 'goodnight' without encore, but the audience seemed well pleased and satisfied with the evening.
