Novice cooks can pick up culinary skills at free cooking workshops.

The beginners cookery classes - organised by Harleston Information Plus - start on October 10 at its base on Exchange Street, Harleston, and last for seven weeks.

Classes are aimed at people who want to learn how to cook healthy, tasty meals from scratch and will teach basic skills to help participants cook with fresh ingredients.

Julie Helsby, Harleston Information Plus community support manager, said: 'There are a lot of people who need to cook for themselves and others, but struggle as they have no skills in the kitchen. These classes cover preparing and cooking meat, vegetables and simple desserts. We provide all ingredients and cooking equipment, the participants prepare a meal to take home.'
