Toppers Sandwiches, Bury St Edmunds

This sandwich bar in Buttermarket prides itself on having been serving sumptuous sandwiches for more than 20 years. Their wide menu features sandwiches, baguettes, paninis and wraps with fillings such as smoked salmon, egg, bacon and sausage and Chinese chicken.

Market Chips, Great Yarmouth

The humble chip butty was voted one of the UK's top 20 favourite sandwiches earlier this year, according to research conducted by Heinz, and when it comes to chips it's only right you head to the coast. Swing by Market Chips on Yarmouth Market and grab yourself a roll full of freshly-cooked chips for just £1.50. George Ryan, who lives in the town, says, 'You simply can't beat it'.

For sandwiches a little more special than your average BLT. Their daytime menu features a wealth of options, including The Italian (herb roasted chicken breast, with sun-dried tomato, basil mayonnaise and fresh rocket) and Beef and Stilton Deluxe (slow cooked lightly smoked beef, Stilton mayo, onion marmalade and fresh rocket).

The Feed, Norwich Market

The Feed is a social enterprise that offers people the chance to sink their teeth into delicious food while raising money and awareness for the good it does in the city, empowering vulnerable people. Currently the stall is serving up a range of Cuban-style sandwiches with the hottest products being the Big Reuben which is piled high with pastrami, sauerkraut, gherkins, cheddar, mustard, mayo and rocket. Also popular is The Norfolk New Yorker, which combines Norfolk pastrami with Colman's Mustard, cheddar and rocket. Vegetarians are also well catered for at the stall with a firm favourite being the Roasted Veggie filled with aubergine, courgette and shallots with chickpea hummus.

The Grazing Sheep, Ipswich

This waterside restaurant and cafe serves up a range of sandwiches daily, choosing not to always offer a set menu but occasionally to go where inspiration takes them. Popular fillings here have included Ploughman's, a sandwich stacked with everything you might find on a ploughman's platter (ham, cheese, apple, tomato) as well as halloumi and avocado, and chicken, mayo and salad.

Urban Munch, Norwich

If you're looking for a lunch that's really going to fill you up, look no further than Urban Munch. This little eatery on Castle Meadow in Norwich serves up wholesome roast dinner baguettes and hog roasts as well as a range of other tempting treats. Iain C on TripAdvisor recommends the Sausage melt baguette, while Louie W opted for a roast chicken filling. He said: 'completely worth the money, absolutely lovely food'.

Earsham Street Cafe, Bungay

Nestled in the town centre, this is an ideal spot to visit for lunch. The establishment offers a range of sandwiches, from classic bacon sarnies to chicken, chorizo and mayonnaise. Also on the menu is Suffolk Shipcord Cheese and Jeannie's Chutney and home cooked ham and coleslaw. All sandwiches are served on hearty slices of Bungay granary or white bread and accompanied by mixed salad leaves and Fairfield crisps.

The Baguette Shop, Cromer

A one-stop shop for all your sandwich needs. Marc Betts from Norwich describes it as being like foodie 'heaven' due to the wide array of cooked and cold meats on offer, as well as a stocked salad bar that will allow you to build your own perfect baguette. Mr Betts, a regular, recommends his favourite combo of Brie and bacon.

Sanda's Truly Scrumptious Food, Diss

If you're after something really specific, Sanda's is sure to be able to cater for your cravings. This shop in the heart of Diss lets you put together your own sandwich from start to finish, selecting the type of bread, meat, cheese, spread, salad and anything else you could possibly desire.

The Artisan Smokehouse from Suffolk

If you love Tim Matthews' award-winning smoked products, pop over to his cafe at Goose Barn, which he runs with wife Gill. Found on a quiet country road in Falkenham, the cafe serves generous portions of truly scrummy food, including open sandwiches. Toppings could include their smoked salmon and cream cheese, or Tim's beautiful smoked beef. You'll find wonderful nibbly bits too. The cafe is licensed and serves great coffee!
