The plight of Charlie Gard was brought to our attention with high media coverage.

Anyone with children will understand the lengths parents will go to in order to protect their child, grasping at any straw.

And right too.

Take the weight of public support with lawyers, judges, nurses and doctors, specialists flying over from America, even comments from Donald Trump and the Pope.

Everyone's hope for Charlie Gard pinned on an experimental treatment with little or no chance of success.

All very commendable. No argument. Even so, there are babies and small children dying every single day and all they need is a bit of food, some clean water, and basic medication.

If all these high and mighty forces could be mobilised for these children, think what could be achieved.
