Archant

One reader has noticed how cyclists seem to prefer biking in the main road instead of using the cycle paths.

Very recently I was walking in Magdalen Road close to the Tesco Metro on the corner with Clarke Road. For a long period last year that section of road was closed off for a cycle lane installation which has narrowed the road. The same works involved the reconfiguration of the junction a little to the

north with Sprowston Road again to improve matters for cyclists.

As my normal route into the city, the disruption was considerable to me and doubtless many others.

As I walked past the end of Clarke Road a lone cyclist came by going out of the city. He was riding in the road and not on the cycle lane.

What is the point?

Clearly the few cyclists there are prefer the roads.
