Reader letter: Anyone want to cycle the whole NDR?

One reader is challenging others to do what he did on the Southern Bypass years ago...cycle the whole Northern Distributor Road before it opens.

I had to smile when I read recently of cyclists and pedestrians being allowed onto part of the NDR before opening - and now traffic as of last weekend.

As far as I am aware, nobody has done what I did 25 years ago when the new Southern Bypass was opened on September 17, 1992.

You see, the day before I cycled the whole length.

However, I was rather concerned to find that the metal surrounds of the cats eyes were already rusty!
