Reader letter: New cycle lane is dangerous

I agree wholeheartedly with the contents of Shaun Quinton’s Letter (February 6), regarding the debacle the work carried out to The Avenues.

However, he forgot to mention there was nothing wrong with the original cycle lane, except that cyclists did not use it and rode in the road.

Since the alterations if I meet a car going to or from the UEA one of us has to enter the new cycle lane in order to pass one another.

Surely this is more dangerous than the original set-up for both motorists and cyclists.

Add to this all the points raised by Mr Quinton, then surely this project has been a complete waste of time and public money.
