Meghan Markle is a marvellous future addition to the Royal family - as Christmas Day showed, says Rachel Moore.

As far from a royalist as you can get, I have to admit to becoming bewitched and intrigued by royal bride-to-be Meghan Markle.

I love how she’s ignoring the royal stiffness, being natural, affectionate, tactile and playful with her prince.

I love even more how she brought back brown to those of us who suit ‘autumn’ colour tones of camel, beige and rust that fashion seems to have forgotten.

A nation of ‘autumns’ cheered when Meghan turned out at Sandringham at Christmas Day in the autumn’s dream outfit – a camel coat, brown suede boots and a brown hat.

It might have resembled a Walnut Whip – or Whip as it’s now called now the walnut has been removed, which has been a scandal of 2017 Christmas, along with the dearth of brazil nuts, a tradition sorely missed. The challenge of extricating a nut whole from the shell is always looked forward to.

But, like Meghan is showing, traditions change, and not always for the worse.
