A free festival of winter walks, from December 23 to January 7, has been put together by the Ramblers. Here are 10 to try in Norfolk and Suffolk.

2 A quiet stroll. Meet at Glemsford Village Hall at 10.30am on Wednesday, December 27 to join the Sudbury Ramblers on a

five mile leisurely wander around the village, followed by coffee and cakes.

3 Walk part of Marriotts Way from Aylsham with Norwich Ramblers on Thursday December 28. The short circular walk, of just 3.7 miles begins at the Bure Valley Railway car park at 1.30pm.

4 An isolated castle is one of the star attractions of the five mile Bodham and Baconsthorpe Castle walk, beginning at the Red Hart pub in Bodham at 10.30am on Thursday, December 28. It is led by the Wensum group.

5 Get 2018 off to a healthy start with a New Year's Day walk. Meet at the car park by Rougham primary school at 10am for a leisurely four mile walk with Bury St Edmunds Ramblers.

6 Enjoy a bit of a work-out around Old Buckenham with the Breckland Brisk Walkers group on New Year's Day. Its three mile farm walk begins at 10.30am at Old Buckenham church.

All these walks are part of the free Festival of Winter Walks which runs from Saturday, December 23 to Sunday, January 7.
