The annoucement of a potentional five-star hotel or new office block addition to the city is exciting.

The Forum, city hall, the market and the castle - there seems to be a majestic building at every turn.

Now, council bosses hope to add a five-star hotel or a “game changing” new office block to the landscape, on the car park at the back of Norwich City Council’s offices. The council has been promoting the site, and say they are now confident a buyer will come forward.

It’s something we’d certainly, but cautiously, welcome.

Of course, anything that is built in such a central location must fit in with the surroundings, and must not detract from our stunning, and historic, city centre.

But many have long said Norwich needs a stand-out, boutique hotel - and perhaps it’s now time that we receive one.
