A mother-of-four appeared on This Morning this week to discuss why she charges her family £30 per person for her Christmas meal, we asked our readers if they would ever do the same.

We had over 360 votes in our poll on Facebook and over 100 comments from people who expressed either anger or support regarding the woman's controversial decision.

On the whole our readers seem to be a generous bunch with 42pc voting that they'd charge absolutely nothing if they were hosting Christmas lunch.

25pc did say they would ask for food or drink contributions towards the meal instead.

However in third place was the £10-£20 category, with 9pc of the voters saying this is the amount they'd ask for from guests.

A small portion, 8pc,voted for less than £5. Another 8pc of people went for £5-£10, 5pc for £20-£30 and 2pc for more than £30.

By and large the comments reflected the giving nature of our region, with many people outraged over the thought of asking for any money on this special day.

Although with Christmas being an increasingly expensive time for all and the price of food seemingly rising, perhaps asking for a few pennies in the pot isn't so Scrooge-like after all?
