If you fancy a change from the usual Christmas dinner with pigs in blankets and all the trimmings we've pulled together some other, alternative places you can chow down on the big day.

1. Bella Italia, Norwich Red Lion, 12-6pm (Norwich Riverside is closed)

A three course Italian, plus prosecco for only £35.99, sounds pretty good. Everybody loves a good pizza or a bowl of pasta, so why not grab some on Christmas Day? It'll probably be quite delicious.

2. Café Rouge, Norwich Chapelfield, 12-4:30pm

Fancy some French dining instead of a roast? Café Rouge is offering a five-course dinner for £49.95. With dishes such as confit duck, steak frites and mussels, or omelettes and croques, there's definitely something for those not looking for the traditional Christmas dinner this year.

3. St Giles Spice, Upper St Giles St, 12-3pm

A six-course Indian menu for only £39.95 with a glass of prosecco on Christmas Day? Ideal! Nothing beats a great curry with some mango chutney, poppadoms and naan bread, so why not have some spice with your Christmas lunch?

4. Shapla (Tandoori Restaurant), Attleborough, 12-4pm

A highly-reviewed Indian has its normal menu and prices open for business on Father Christmas' big day. Pop down for a poppadom or two!

5. McDonald's, Tuckswood, 7am-2pm

Tuckswood McDonald's will be open for business on Christmas Day so grab your favourite meal with a McFlurry to finish!

6. The Chase, Newton, Thetford

So you're probably thinking why is a pub on this list? Aren't they serving a traditional Christmas lunch? Well... yes they are. But they're serving a traditional Christmas dinner in a PIE. The Christmas pie encases a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings surrounded by two types of pastry. If you're feeling slightly less festive you can always get the salmon.

7. Middletons, Norwich Timber Hill

Enjoy five delicious courses in Middletons this Christmas. Again, traditional options are available but there are also more abstract options such as the prime steak and sea food duo, or the salmon and seafood medley. Nothing screams Christmas like a 30-day aged prime steak.

8. Home-made BBQ

OK, this one is cheating but I was compelled to include it. One year my family and I bizarrely decided to have a BBQ on Christmas day. Just for a change really. It was lovely (as are all BBQs) but seeing Dad in the freezing cold trying to BBQ pork sausages was one of the best sights of the year.
