Fakenham officials will hold an 8am early morning track inspection on Friday ahead of Sunday's scheduled National Hunt meeting.
Clerk of the course David Hunter admits there is only a 'glimmer of hope' the meeting can go ahead with the course currently covered in snow and tempertures pluging as low as minus 11c recently at the north Norfolk circuit.
'Prospects are bleak, but not as bleak as they might have been and we do have a glimmer of hope,' said Hunter. 'The temperatures are due to rise from Thursday morning so we thought we'd have a look and see where we are after 24 hours of milder weather. If there hasn't been much improvement we'll know by then what chance we have, but we'll have a much better idea on Friday.'
