It was once considered the eyesore of the city and left abandoned for years – but the redeveloped Westlegate Tower in Norwich city centre is ready to welcome its first residents at the end of the month.

To celebrate the completion of the tower, in Westlegate, and the moving in of the apartments' proud owners, the Norwich Evening News takes a look at the facts and figures of the former Westlegate House office block – which has been branded 'an iconic landmark in urban regeneration' by John James, managing director of Soho Estates, which co-owns the building.

Formerly offices, Westlegate House was built in 1959. The structure had lain empty and neglected for more than a decade.

When the plans for the development launched last May, the £8 million investment was seen by some as a gamble, but has turned out be a sell-out.

All of the city's landmark icons from the cathedral to the castle, Carrow Road and the brightly coloured tops of the marketplace are visible from the apartments.

The site includes 17 luxury apartments, two townhouses and three commercial units at the base.
