Holidaymakers looking for a staycation with a difference are in for a treat as an 18th-century lighthouse on the edge of Winterton-on-Sea on the east Norfolk coast has become a holiday let.
The historic five-floor lighthouse sleeps nine and was used as a military lookout tower during the Second World War.
The stunning property, which since 2000 has been privately owned, was also referred to in Daniel Defoe's novel Robinson Crusoe and featured on Channel 4's 'Homes by the Sea' in 2014.
The property has been renovated by the architect Sally Mackereth and the original tower has been extended to create a spacious downstairs living space which opens onto a cedar deck and garden designed by RHS Chelsea Gold-medal winner Christopher Moss.
The downstairs 'garden room' includes a WC, laundry facilities, stainless steel kitchen, dining room and seating area.
The first-floor bedroom has four curved timber bunks and a large window looking out to sea.
The second floor has a double bedroom, with rivet steel beams and three windows with stunning views across the surrounding area.
The third floor, which was once the lighthouse keeper's room, is the library bedroom with sleeping for one and curved bookshelves around the room.
The Lantern room at the top of the lighthouse is accessed by a vertical staircase and has a double bed.
From here, visitors have 360-degree panoramic views of the Norfolk countryside with a wrap around seating area.
There is parking available for two cars.
The property costs £1,950 per week or £1,100 for three nights from January to March.
