Villagers turned out in their hundreds to raise concerns with developers over controversial plans to build 170 homes and a new school in Brooke.
FW Properties held the consultation at Brooke Village Hall, with hundreds of people living in the area attending.
Resident Jon Treby, 41, said: 'My feeling from the village is that of resistance. We are potentially increasing the village by 50pc without the infrastructure. It's good to see all this but my feeling is that the developers want this to go through without hearing our opinions.'
Alasdair Skepelhorn, 53, said: 'There is a housing crisis I accept that - but for affordable houses. Not one of these are going to be affordable to anyone who can't already afford a house.'
The development is located to the east of Norwich Road on a site behind the village hall and will be one of the biggest that FW Propeties has taken on. It recently completed 12 new homes on the same road.
Resident Barbara Fox, 78, raised concerns over building more houses opposite those. She said: 'If this development had been put forward before they would have never been able to sell the previous houses they built.
'How would you feel if you have just bought that house with a nice view and by the time you have finished paying for it had all been redeveloped? I don't think that's fair.'
Director of FW Properties Julian Wells spoke to concerned residents. He said: 'It has been really well attended. There are lots of different views with people who have concerns or are encouraged with lots of questions.
'There as been an awful lot of false information issued to the village about the proposal.'
Mr Wells says the development has been driven by youth, with the creation of the 210-pupil school and a mix of houses including bungalows and small houses for families and first-time buyers.
Mr Wells added: 'We are evolving the plans, taking in the comments that have been made today, reviewing them and seeing what we can address.
'We are a local developer and I'm not going to bring something that is wrong or inappropriate.'
