The finishing touches were being put in place earlier this week for the 9th Annual Great Yarmouth Beer and Cider Festival which opens in St George's Theatre today.

With over 3,500 pints of ale and cider to be drunk over three days before the festival closes at 3pm on Sunday, organisers are hoping for some thirsty people to attend. When the festival opens at 11am, today lunchtime festival-goers will be able to choose from 38 real ales and 19 different ciders, a selection that promises something for everyone.

There will also be live music today and tomorrow and hot and cold food from St George's Café plus a barbecue outside.

The festival will be open for both lunch (11am to 3pm) and evening (5pm to 11pm) sessions on May 15 and May 16 with a final lunch time session (noon to 3pm) on Sunday. Entry will be available on the door for all sessions priced at £3 for the lunch and £5 for the evening sessions.
