The University of East Anglia (UEA) has appointed a new head of the social sciences faculty, which includes Norwich Business School.

Prof Frances Bowen has been appointed as pro-vice chancellor for social sciences, a role which also covers the schools of international development, education and lifelong learning, law, economics, psychology and social work.

Prof Bowen, who is currently dean of the school of business management and professor of innovation at Queen Mary University of London, will join the UEA on September 1.

She said: “I have been aware of the great research and teaching at UEA since I applied to study the MA in development studies more than 20 years ago. I’m looking forward to supporting staff and students across the social sciences to make a difference, both on and off campus.”

Prof Bowen will also lead several cross-institutional initiatives.
