The warm weather at the Norfolk Showground proved a boon for some clothing and accessories businesses.

Jennifer Byfleet, who runs accessories seller John Halifax with her father, said the good weather had worked in their favour.

The Somerset-based business had visited shows in Derby and Lincolnshire before coming to Norfolk as part of a three-week summer show tour.

'It has been good today because we sell sun hats and it is sunny,' Miss Byfleet said. 'Today is also ladies' day – people make an effort and come to us for hats.'

John Baggaley of Midlands Chamois, based in Derby, said: 'Trade has been pretty good, purely because of the weather. We would have sold even more if it was less windy.'

But for boot and coat seller Welligogs the hot weather was less advantageous. Caroline Beckett of Welligogs said: 'When it is as hot as this all people are thinking about is an ice cream.'
