A top Norfolk family attraction is making a beeline for success after a £2m investment to broaden its appeal to older visitors.

Much of the cash injection at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure has gone towards the construction of a new attraction, Predator High Ropes.

At 35m long the parallel sky rails with twin zip wires are the longest in Europe, with two levels of difficulty.

Management at the park in Lenwade hope the high ropes will appeal to teenagers and pre-teens, a market it has not yet tapped into with its entertainment offering – and it is also open for adults who feel up to the challenge.

The investment also includes a £900,000 upgrade to The Explorers restaurant, a 200-seat eatery which has been updated with a steampunk theme.

Rebranded from Dinosaur Adventure this year, the park was named best large visitor attraction at the Eastern Daily Press and East Anglian Daily Times' Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism Awards 2018.

Owned by the Goymour family since 2006, the Jurassic experience with animatronic dinosaurs attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year and has seen significant growth since 2011, with millions of pounds pumped into infrastructure improvements.

Park manager Adam Goymour said: 'This latest round of investment means that the park will appeal to older children and crucially the teenage market, which strengthens our family feel.

'We have also invested heavily in the infrastructure as well as a significant £900,000 upgrade to The Explorers restaurant.'

The 85-acre park has made significant upgrades to its entertainment offering for younger children in the past few years.

In 2011 it opened the £2m Dinomite, Norfolk's largest indoor play area, and it pumped more than £200,000 in Dippy's Splash Zone, a 755 sq m water play park which opened in 2015.

Mr Goymour said: 'The park is family owned and managed and we are hugely proud of what we offer to families.

'We believe that our approach of continually investing in our offering, means that we are always improving our visitor experience and giving families a reason to keep coming back to us.'

The park is open all year round except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
