Star Wing Brewery, based on the Norfolk-Suffolk border at Redgrave, near Diss, is currently converting part of its redbrick building that dates back to 1877 into a room where thirsty punters will be able to sip pints brewed just yards away.

As well as offering Star Wing's craft ales on tap, the Tap Room will also offer more local suppliers, including Finningham-based Betty's Gin and Harleston cider, based in nearby Palgrave.

Brewery manager David Upton said: 'We are incredibly proud of our heritage, so were keen for our Tap Room to reflect just that. The bar and tables are made using locally grown and cut yew and oak from Ickworth Estate in Horringer, while much of our tableware has been made by local potter Julia Edwards. The whole building project has also been completed by local contractors.'

The Tap Room coincides with the expansion of Star Wing's own hop farm that is now 15 times the size with an additional five acres ready for planting.

The Tap Room will open for the first time on May 4 for a bank holiday weekend including live music. It will then be open Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am to 5pm, Fridays 9am to 11pm, Saturdays 9am to 11pm and Sundays 12pm to 10pm. For more information visit starwingbrewery.com
