The current uncertain economic climate is the reason behind the closure of a well-known hotel and wedding venue, its owner has revealed.

Carlton Manor Hotel, in Chapel Road, Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft will close its doors for the final time on Sunday, March 17.

Owner Dee Mauree said: 'The decision was an extremely difficult one to make and was reached after much reflection and consideration.

'Due to the current economic climate and its uncertainty, keeping the hotel open in its present format is unfortunately no longer viable at the present time.'

The closure was announced through a statement on the hotel's official Facebook page which read; 'As of Sunday, March 17, 2019 Carlton Manor Hotel will cease trading.

'All bookings, weddings and functions will be contacted in due course.'

A spokesman added: 'The Manor Lodge, the self-catering facility on site is unaffected and bookings are still being accepted.'

They also said the Carlton Manor team wished to thank all its past clients and suppliers for their support and confirmed the self-catering facility on site would be unaffected.
