In the online story about plans for 81 holiday lodges and static caravans in Ellough the wrong photograph was used.

We apologise for any embarrassment of confusion caused about the publicaiton of the story with the wrong photograph.

The story was about two separate applications for developments in Ellough, which would see 46 holiday lodges and a warden's lodge built at Glebe Farm and 35 static caravans and a manager's unit built at Playters Old Farm, have been met with fierce criticism from residents in the area.

In responses to the two applications, residents have warned the plans 'could cause accidents on the fast road' and see the countryside 'spoilt' for future generations.

Both sites have previously approved planning permission for five and 10 buildings for Playters Old Farm and Glebe Farm respectively, meaning the new applications aim to increase the number of lodgings by more than five times the original plans.

Public comments on the plans highlighted the issues around access to the sites.

Robert Kett, of Cucumber Lane Farm, said: 'Access to the site would be onto a narrow country lane, barely more than single track, with poor visibility with only a short distance visible before the road curves.

'The lane has a 60mph speed limit and heavy vehicles travel at speed including to and from the bio-digester plant, in the season making many journeys a day.'

Susan Hayward, of Playters New Farm, added: 'The entrance is blind spot and could cause accidents on fast road.'

Another respondent said: 'The ancient meadowland areas including a pond are very important to wildlife and a change of use is totally unacceptable.

'I spend a lot of time in that area and this would be spoilt for future generations if these plans were to go ahead. Our green and pleasant land is being eroded away.'

However, the applicants for Playters Old Farm claim more than half a million pounds a year could be generated by their development alone for the area.

Their application states: 'The proposed development will also have positive financial impacts on the local economy both directly and indirectly.

'The proximity of the application site to the market town of Beccles will result in spending into local businesses located there, as well as other nearby towns such as Lowestoft'

The supporting documents for the Glebe Farm development add: 'This proposal seeks to make efficient, economic use of an area of land in which the principle of use has been established to be acceptable, whilst conserving and enhancing the environment and associated assets.

'The lodges will provide luxury accommodation in beautifully kept grounds that integrates well within the countryside.'
