Insurance broker Marsh has appointed a head of specialities at its Norwich office – a newly created role.

Sue Woolterton, who will take up the role, has been with the group since 1987 and recently managed the regional office network. She said: “The city is renowned as one of the largest insurance clusters in Europe, and I look forward to further enhancing Marsh’s capabilities, to the benefit of our clients.”

Two new starters mean East Anglian law firm Birketts has doubled the size of its residential property team in just over two years.

The latest recruits to the Norwich-based team are Victoria Pollington, who has joined as a chartered legal executive, and paralegal Paul Kenrick.

The firm provides property advice from each of its four offices which are in Norwich, Ipswich, Chelmsford and Cambridge.

A 16-year-old has become one of the youngest trainee accountants in the country after Norfolk accountancy firm Stephenson Smart took her on following a work experience placement.

Bethany Little has joined the company’s King’s Lynn office and has begun studying for her AAT level three qualification.

She said: “I had only been doing them about a month and in the half term I organised independently to do some work experience at Stephenson Smart, which confirmed what I already knew – that I wanted to pursue accountancy.

“I had mentioned to Claire Melton, one of the partners, that if an apprenticeship came up I would be very interested. I previously did some work experience at a different practice when I was in year 10 at school and I really loved it.”
