A regional port director has taken on responsibility for another of his employer's UK facilities.
Peel Ports has appointed Richard Goffin, who already oversees its Great Yarmouth facility, as port director at London Medway Sheerness as part of plans to drive growth at the port.
At Sheerness Mr Goffin will be responsible for progressing commercial opportunities and investment, including the realisation of Peel Ports' 20-year master plan for sustainable growth.
The group has expansion plans for the site, to support the creation of new logistics facilities for the handling, storage and distribution of bulk cargoes like automotive and construction products.
Mr Goffin said Great Yarmouth – where he will continue as port director – had seen 'exponential growth' over his two-year tenure, in part due to growth in the offshore energy sector. 'As a group we hope to replicate this at Sheerness,' he said.
