A Norfolk MP experienced the growing importance of the “circular economy” during a visit to a business in his constituency.

Norman Lamb was welcomed by steering and hydraulics company PSS in North Walsham, where he received a tour of the facilities – including a new £100,000 clean room, installed in 2017 – to learn more about the firm’s re-manufacturing work.

As well as refurbishing commercial vehicle steering components, PSS manufactures more than 60,000 new components each year for off-highway vehicles such as forklifts, diggers and ride-on lawn mowers.

The circular economy refers to businesses which recycle or refurbish manufactured products.

North Norfolk MP Mr Lamb said: “It is vital we find ways to get the most from our resources and PSS have put themselves at the forefront of re-manufacturing. The fact they are also a significant exporter of new components is another great example of the ingenuity and enterprise we deliver in our region.”
