Organisers of a major careers event due to take place near Norwich next week say they 'fully anticipate' that it will go ahead, despite current inclement weather.

The Norfolk Skills and Careers Festival, which brings together young people, businesses and education providers from around the county to discuss further training and employment opportunities, is scheduled to take place over March 7 and 8 at the Norfolk Showground.

But heavy snow and icy conditions on the roads and rail lines have prevented many events around the city and further afield from happening – including an event at the showground itself.

The East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) was forced to call off its flagship SNS 2018 conference and exhibition, due to be held at the showground on Wednesday and Thursday this week, which hundreds of industry delegates had booked to attend.

In a tweet to followers on Thursday EEEGR warned exhibitors not to venture to the ground to collect their equipment as it had been deemed 'too dangerous to access'.

The organisers of the skills and careers festival say they will hold a meeting on Monday (March 5) to 'review conditions' and will advise of any changes to arrangements for exhibitors or visitors.
