Visitors to the Broads Village at the Royal Norfolk Show had the chance to experience life on the water thanks to a group of yacht operators.

Broads Sailing – a consortium of cabin yacht hire firms on the Norfolk Broads including Hunters Yard, Swallowtail Boatyard, Martham Boats, Oliver's Sailing Holidays and Eastwood Whelpton – launched a boat on the lake at the showground.

The Farrington 30 Hull, a traditional Norfolk river cruiser made by Martham Boats and first launched in May, proved a hit with visitors of all ages, who were able to climb aboard and look around.

Members of the public were also able to try their hand at kayaking on the lake.

The Broads Sailing group hosted the first Broads Sailing Festival last weekend in Ludham, where a number of boating firms exhibited their vessels. Annie Hamilton of Eastwood Whelpton said the festival's popularity demonstrated a public appetite for sailing on the Broads.
