A cycling enthusiast has taken his experience from some of the sport's top names to start his own company.

Chris Hamlin's firm Au Cycling produces carbon fibre bicycle wheels, designed for the discerning cyclist.

After working with the supply chains for cycling brands such as Mavic, DT Swiss and Vittoria, his focus increasingly shifted to wheel composition before he decided to launch his own firm manufacturing full carbon fibre wheel sets.

Mr Hamlin said: 'As the two largest components on a frame, wheels have a larger effect on aerodynamic performance than anything other than the rider.'

Hand-built in Norwich, the wheels are available as 33mm, 55mm or 80mm deep section carbon, with rim and disc brake options. Each set takes around a day to manufacture.

Mr Hamlin hopes to eventually bring component manufacture to the UK, but says a lack of skills in carbon fibre currently hampers this.
