One of Norfolk's business success stories that runs operations as far afield as Europe, Australia and New Zealand from its head office in Diss has celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Multi-award winning specialist audio visual business Midwich, based on Vinces Road, is one of the biggest employers in the South Norfolk town and recently reported revenue of £574m for 2018.
The company's success story began in 1979 when husband and wife David and Ruth Watson formed Midwich Computer Company initially to sell computer components and BBC computers to schools and colleges.
In the mid-1990s the company decided to focus on trade only customers and started to sell AV products. It now employs over 250 people in Diss and a further 650 people across Midwich Group, with operations in the UK and Ireland, Continental Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Despite its global success the company remains committed to Diss. Managing director Stephen Fenby said: 'Midwich has grown phenomenally since its inception to become one of the world's leading specialist AV distributors. It has been an amazing journey, with Diss at the very heart of the operation.'
