Norfolk businessmen take on marathon in aid of cancer charity
Three west Norfolk businessmen have raised £25,000 for a cancer charity after completing the London Marathon.
Martyn Benstead, Neil Gayton and Steve Eke ran the 26-mile course in the hottest conditions on record, all finishing in around five hours.
They were running in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
Mr Benstead, a partner at accountants Stephenson Smart’s Fakenham office, said the heat had a major impact on the trio, who battled with injuries and cramp.
“But we are extremely proud of our achievements. The pain was definitely worth it to raise such a substantial amount of money for an amazing cause,” he said.
A large donation came from Stephenson Smart, where Mr Gayton also works as a manager at the King’s Lynn office.
Mr Eke is general manager of TYM International and thanked customers for their sponsorship.
