Farmers and agricultural organisations have a chance to put their views on post-Brexit policy to government officials at an event near Norwich.

The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (RNAA) and Defra are hosting the interactive workshop at Easton and Otley College, from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday April 11.

It will include a presentation from a senior Defra policy official as well as two 90-minute breakout sessions to discuss key topics within the government's ongoing 10-week consultation on its proposals for a new domestic policy for food, farming and the environment outside the EU.

Topics include:

• Reducing direct payments.

• Environmental land management scheme.

• Farming excellence, profitability and resilience.

• Animal health and welfare.

• Uplands / rural.

Sessions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

RNAA chief executive Greg Smith said: 'We want to give as many of the region's farmers and supporting organisations the chance to be directly involved in the development of policy which will have significant bearing on agriculture over future decades.'

The consultation on the government's consultation paper, named Health and Harmony: The Future for Food, Farming and the Environment in a Green Brexit, opened on February 27 and will close on May 8. During this time, responses can be made online.
