Entrepreneurs in Norfolk and Essex are among the keenest to celebrate their heritage when naming their companies, according to new research.

The counties are among the top 10 most popular to be cited in business names, with 3,276 companies referencing Essex and 1,526 mentioning Norfolk.

The What’s in a business name? report also shows Cambridge is the third most popular city to cite in a business name after London and Manchester, with 3,197 mentions.

Premier Business Care, which compiled the report from businesses registered at Companies House, found that among the most common words to use in a company name were Solutions (101,925 businesses), Consulting (83,225) and Group (48,500).

But the past few years have seen several new words gain popularity, including Drone – featured in the names of 156 businesses incorporated in 2016 and 2017 – and Brexit, featured in 62 names in 2017.
