A popular town centre coffee shop, which has hosted a series of themed events and was renowned for its bubble tea and retro toy collection, is set to close its doors this weekend.

Coffee Heart, in London Road North, Lowestoft will close after five years of trading in the town.

Bob and Lynne Cowan, who have run the independent family run coffee shop and retro collectable toy shop since it was established in 2014, said: 'We will miss our wonderful customers who have become like family and friends.'

In a statement on the Coffee Heart Lowestoft Facebook page, the couple added: 'With great sadness Coffee Heart will be closing.

'Our last day of trading will be Saturday, March 2.

'We thank everyone who has supported us for the last five years.

'All the very best.'

Having welcomed Star Wars characters and superheroes for themed events over the years, the venue had also hosted the Coffee Heart halloween experience and leading comic book artist, Jon Haward, commissioned drawings at the shop in October 2015.

Just last month the independent family run café was voted as the town's second favourite coffee shop in a poll as customers hailed it as the 'best gluten free café around.'
