Bosses at mailing house Cavalier Mailing Services are aiming for continued steady growth following a management buyout.

Company chiefs this week completed the acquisition of the Rackheath business from former shareholders following a long period of preparation.

Cavalier, which employs 23 people, provides mailing services for about 185 companies nationally, a figure which has doubled over the past five years.

Customers include subscription magazine publishers and membership organisations including the Federation of Small Businesses, and range from individuals to multi-national organisations.

Services include direct mail, mailshots, wrapping subscription magazines and sourcing print and discounted postal services in the UK and internationally.

Formerly part of cottage and boating company Blakes Holiday Group, the firm was founded in 1986 and remained in the ownership of former Blakes shareholders after the parent company was sold. Turnover has increased by about 25pc in the past five years to about 1.2m, partly as a result of online marketing, and company chiefs say the company is well placed for further growth.

Commercial director Alastair Kerridge said: 'Over the last five years our customer base has doubled, and over 15 years it has quadrupled.

'We have seen a prolonged period of growth, more so in the last five years. It is really quite an exciting time for us.'

As well as Mr Kerridge, the firm's management team comprises Paul Middleditch, managing director, and Nigel Greengrass, finance director.

Mr Kerridge said there were no plans to change staffing as a result of the buyout, and said he was 'over the moon' at the acquisition.

He added: 'We were keen to take on ownership as soon as economically viable.'
