The boss of Norwich brewery Redwell has insisted its future is secure, despite a dispute over its lease.

The landlord of the premises in Bracondale, Norwich, had issued a repossession notice on Monday, giving the brewery 14 days to vacate the site.

But Patrick Fisher, co-director of Redwell Brewing, said the 'private matter' had now been resolved and access had been restored on Friday, adding that he was hopeful the on-site bar would re-open next weekend.

'We couldn't access the building for three days but we got back into the building on Thursday night,' he said.

'We are not going to be open this weekend as it's been a stressful week, but we will be open again the week after.

'The guys are in there today [Friday] and we've kegged up a couple of hundred kegs. Everything is fine from a financial standpoint.'

Solicitor Frank Brumby, representing Mr Fisher, said the landlord had taken the action over 'an insignificantly small amount of rent', but that access to the premises to continue trading had since been granted.

Mr Brumby added: 'An application for relief from forfeiture was made immediately to the Norwich County Court and while it is limited what I can say while matters are before the court, my client and I fully expect Redwell Brewing to be back in full occupation of the Arches early next week.'

The landlord could not be reached for comment.

Production had not been affected and the business had continued trading from parts of the site leased from Network Rail, said Mr Fisher.

The notice attached to the gates at the Arches notified the tenants that the premises were being repossessed, and requiring them 'to remove all your goods, chattels, furniture and effects from the property within 14 days of this notice'.

Any items not recovered within that period would be disposed of by the landlord, it added.

An update on Redwell's Twitter feed on Friday said: 'Sorry the bar will be closed again this weekend. Hopefully see you all for a pint soon.'
