The importance of a business's reputation – and how to build and manage it – will be the focus for the latest in a year-long series of masterclasses aimed at helping owners and managers of businesses achieve 'business brilliance'.

PR specialist Andy Newman, a leading figure in Norfolk's public relations scene for the past three decades, will explain why PR needs to be central in any business's decision-making process – and why 'spin' simply doesn't work.

He will also look at the changing media landscape, and ask whether traditional PR thinking is still relevant in a world of user-generated content.

The masterclass is the fifth in a series of 10 being organised by Lovewell Blake, which is seeing industry experts and business gurus share their knowledge and experience.

Mr Newman has worked in both agencies and client-side, and for the last 14 years has run his own consultancy, Newman Associates PR. He has worked alongside brands such as Debenhams, Denplan, Colman's and Hoseasons, as well as a raft of smaller businesses, and various public sector and voluntary bodies.

The event follows the first four masterclasses on leadership, 'the thinking environment', brand and digital marketing. Future sessions include wellbeing in the workplace, cyber security and commercial mediation.

The Lovewell Blake Building Brilliance in Business masterclass on PR and the Media takes place on Thursday, June 21 from 6pm to 8pm at Open in Norwich. Places are free, but must be reserved in advance.
